About Us and Our Radio Productions
The Wireless Theatre Company's main reason for existence is to keep radio drama alive and well, by creating original, excting radio drama - for radio lovers and for the 'Facebook Generation'. We have made it accessible and easy to download to your iPod or MP3 players directly from this website. We create a platform for fresh new writers, up and coming acting talent and interesting new ways of producing audio theatre. Radio drama fits perfectly with the current downloading market and we think it's time radio drama got a bit more noticed by everyone! All our original audio downloads are written, cast, directed, produced and edited by our large enthusiastic and talented team and although we are based in central London, our writers are from all over the world.
During our successful first four years we have won three prestigious awards (Best Radio Drama Producer - Fringe Report Awards 2009, Best Entertainment Producer, Best Online Multi Platform Creator - Radio Academy Awards 2011) recorded over one hundred and thirty original audio productions, launched our Wireless Theatre In Education programme, worked with over one hundred new actors, fifteen new directors, five producers and eight new editors. We have also launched Wireless Theatre LIVE - performing live recordings in front of a studio audience every few months, and www.wirelesstheatrekids.co.uk launched in December 2010, bringing radio drama to children and schools. We were thrilled to be accepted onto the BBC's Preferred Suppliers List in 2011.
We have also published Wireless Monologues - a book of new speeches for actors and actresses - a real must have for people who want to show off something different at their auditions.
Our productions are nearly all completely FREE, and are all very easy to download. Simply sign up, and away you go! We pride ourselves on producing interesting, eclectic, challenging and innovative work on a regular basis. We are open to suggestion and ideas and thank everyone for all their contributions this far.
We believe that bringing a theatre company of this nature to the internet is a positive cultural contribution as the nature of audio plays is particularly suited to performance and publications of work by a large cross section of the community; we encourage and support any contributors, and will always strive to provide a forum for new talent.
