Matthew Jure

Matthew Jure is best known for his television roles as Soho gangster George Barlow in BBC1’s Waking The Dead and Detective Sergeant Stanley Davies in BBC1’s The Great Train Robbery opposite Oscar-winner Jim Broadbent.

He appeared in series five of Downton Abbey (which won the Screen Actors Guild award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series) and he also features in season two of Sky & Canal+ Anglo-French crime drama The Tunnel with The Bourne Ultimatum‘s Clémence Poésy, as well as in Brighton-based BBC1 police dramaCuffs playing seedy fortune teller Seb alongside Top Boy‘s Ashley Walters and Sherlock‘s Amanda Abbington.

Recent work includes: hard-drinking Eddie Jones in the second series of ITV’s Cambridgeshire period drama Grantchesteropposite War & Peace‘sJames Norton, pirate John Long in video game Star Citizen with Gary Oldman, and troubled protagonist Mal Taylor in BIFA-longlisted (Discovery Award) and Raindance-nominated (Best British Feature Film) God’s Acre opposite Idris Elba’s Beasts of No Nation co-star Richard Pepple. Matthew also plays obsessive estate agent Bryan Mitchell opposite 28 Days Later‘s Luke Mably, Mister Selfridge’s Andrea Deck, Downton Abbey’s Brendan Patricks and The King’s Speech’s Robert Portal in The Ghost Writer, a psychological horror set in the Cotswolds.
