Hope Bourne is a biographical audio drama about the writer and artist Hope Bourne, who lived a remote self-sufficient existence on Exmoor, and wrote and drew of her surroundings.
In 1962 she sent a selection of her creations to publisher Anthony Dent, who was at first astonished, even gently bewildered, but on connecting with Hope in person, formed a close bond. This 44 minute drama on 4 episode explores their long term friendship, and core aspects of Hope’s life.
It stars the wonderful Dame Eileen Atkins as Hope and Alex Jennings as Anthony, and was directed by Cherry Cookson. Our BA was Teresa Milewski and it was edited by Jon Calver and produced by Sarah Golding. Some of the wonderful music was from Isobel Herschmann.
