Wireless Theatre For Education

After establishing a strong reputation for producing top quality radio dramas, we quickly became aware of the value of using audio theatre as a learning tool. In 2008 we launched our Wireless Theatre In Education Programme, offering workshops and talks in schools around the country.

Audio drama can be a wonderful teaching aid, whether you are studying the Classics and looking for a different way of exploring the text, or just seeking something to play to your class during quiet time, Wireless Theatre are working hard to produce a large and varied collection of radio theatre which will help your lessons.

We can offer bespoke workshops or talks to suit your school’s need and budget – ranging from 1 hour talks for up to 100 pupils covering radio production, acting, sound effects and the industry – to full practical workshops covering microphone technique, radio performance, studio etiquette and how to find work in the industry today.

Prices start at just £125 + VAT

“Being told that your lessons are fun by a child is a comment that each teacher loves to hear. Since using this fantastic resource of radio plays for children from the Wireless Theatre Kids website I’m pleased to report I’ve heard this more frequently than I ever have before! I have used this amazing resource both in the classroom as a starter and as a plenary to a lesson, as well as encouraging parents to share these stories with their children at home.” – Kate Elliott, Class Teacher

Wireless Theatre Company came to deliver a workshop on radio drama to 7 visually impaired students who were studying for a unit in Audio Drama for BTEC Performing Arts. It was a fantastic session where students got to work with scripts, microphones and experiment with creating their own sound through the use of Foley. A two hour session flew by and we were all thoroughly inspired by the time spent in the company of Jack and Annie who were brilliant leaders and teachers leaving me with some highly perceptive feedback on the students which I can use towards their BTEC qualification. I would not hesitate to have them back again. In fact, I can’t wait to!” – Lucy Rix, New College Worcester

“Thanks for the talk; the students really enjoyed it and are very excited about giving their own play a go” – A Bull, St Bartholomew School
