Parallel to separate but equally eclectic careers, occasonal joint employment of a dilettante nature convinced Shirley Mawer and Julia Messenger that they could work and write together, despite their different styles.

This collaboration in several genres affords them so much amusement that they are prepared to be a little more sharing. They value the advantage of a purely auditive medium which allows the possibility to be equivocal, a quality inevitably lost when characters' body language is visible.
